Wamena is a town in Papua. It is the capital of Highland Papua province. It is a gateway to go to the Baliem Valley.

People

Wamena's population consists of, the majority of the native Papuan including Dani, Lani, Yali, also other Indonesian such as Buginese, Javanese, and Minang. Christianity is the majority religion in Wamena at about 84% of the population, with Islam at about 15%, Hindu at about 0.12%, and the rest is a smattering of other religions.
