Regimental Museums

Regimental Museums are found throughout the United Kingdom.

In the infantry a regiment is set of several battalions with the same name. In the British Army many regiments go back to 1666. It is where the loyalty of the soldier lays. When asked what unit a soldier belongs to, he will always offer the name of his regiment (not his platoon, company or battalion) first. This loyalty continues into him supporting a Regimental Museum.

The museum brings together the collections of one of the Army's oldest cavalry regiments, the Royal Dragoon Guards, dating from 1685, with one of its newest infantry regiments, the Yorkshire Regiment, which was only formed in 2006.
