Parras de la Fuente

Parras de la Fuente is a city in Coahuila. The town is known for its wine. It was the first wine growing region in the Americas. The town is a Pueblo Mágico, designated in 2004. Parras is called the oasis of the semi-desert of Coahuila state.

The town has 45,000 inhabitants and the elevation is 1,500 m.

There are two bus stations in the town:

• 🌍 Central de Autobuses Saltillo-Parras

Second class buses serve Parras from Saltillo and Monterrey.

• 🌍 Central de Autobuses Parras-Torreon

Coming from Cuatro Ciénegas you need to change the bus in San Pedro Las Colonias.

• 🌍 Church of the Santo Madero. It is located on an extinct volcano plug.  
• 🌍 Museo de los Monos. Monkey museum  
• 🌍 Museo Morón de Arte. Museum of cave paintings and contemporary art.  
• 🌍 Presidencia Municipal. A replica of the State's Government Palace in Saltillo.  
• 🌍 San Ignacio De Loyola church.  
• 🌍 Arcos de La Hacienda. An aqueduct  
• 🌍 Plaza Pueblo Mágico.  
• 🌍 Monumento a los fundadores de Parras, 16 de Septiembre.

• 🌍 Plaza del Reloj.

There are ATMs in Parras. For example a 🌍 Banco Azteca ATM in the elektra store. And there is said to be a Banorte ATM in the center.

Typical foods are:

• Asado de puerco (roasted pork)
• mole
• tamales de puerco y pollo (Chicken and pork tamales)
• barbacoa (barbecue)
• cabrito.

Sweets with walnuts, figs, grapes, pine nuts and cajetas are also made here.

Table wines and grape liqueurs are made in Parras.
