History

The park was established in 1975 as part of the Colombian national parks system. Parks in Colombia are administered by Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (SINAP).

Get in

  • From Leticia : Express boats depart to Caballococha 3 to 5 times a day and will drop you at the park entrance (COP$22,000, 1hr 40min).
  • From Peru : if you're coming down the river from Iquitos, whether on the fast boat or the slow one, you'll save time and money by first stopping in Caballococha and transferring on the fast boat that goes to Leticia and asking to be dropped at the park. You'll do the immigration formalities when you arrive in Leticia.
